Salma Hayek got her big break in Hollywood by playing a character in Robert Rodriguez's Desperado and then climbed to the top of the business with her Academy Award-nominated turn in Frida. Hayek was also active in television including as the executive producer for the cult show Ugly Betty. Salma Hayek Jimenez is the daughter of Spanish parents as well as is a Lebanese father.
